Nutrition + Detox

Have you ever been puzzled by the vast array of dietary information and wondered—what the heck do I eat?! By identifying food sensitivities (or food allergies), we can design a customized diet, unique to you. I see that many health concerns such as fatigue, skin conditions (psoriasis, eczema, and acne), and digestive concerns (pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, IBS, crohns, colitis) may be traced to dietary sensitivity. In addition, female hormonal concerns can be helped by following a elimination diet that is specific to you.

I believe in making lasting and sustainable dietary changes. We might employ a dietary change for a period of time, such as the Ketogenic diet (Keto), Paleo diet, Autoimmune Paleo/Autoimmune Protocol, FODMAP or SCD diet, cleanse program, or an elimination diet. The ultimate goal with any dietary modification is to make it work for you and to lead a life of balance.  Remember, you might be following a specific nutrition plan, but is is right for you? Could your symptoms be due to food restrictions that are not healthy for you? These are some of the questions we explore during an initial evaluation.

Detox

What is a detox? In simplest terms, it is a time of rest and renewal.

Do you need to detox? Your body detoxes on its own (thanks liver!). But, what happens when we are bombarded by chemicals, poor quality foods, antibiotics that kill our healthy gut bacteria, and lifestyle choices that force our body into a state of constant toxic burden? This is when your body needs a time out. The burden of these factors is too much. You might start to notice health changes. Like– why did I suddenly start skipping my period? How come I can no longer stay awake after lunch? Why am I getting sick all the time?

Check out the details of my team-based comprehensive detox program here.

Dr. Simms and her practice are focused on achieving balance, radiant health and wellness.

I actually used to obsess over what I ate. That wasn’t a long term solution for good nutrition, so I’ve learned how to eat what makes me feel good and is health promoting.

While you can’t change the weather, here’s some proactive steps you can take to battle the blues: ❄️

🥕 Eat Your Veggies. Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean you need to eat heavy, high fat processed foods. Explore recipes like hearty vegetable soups, roasted vegetables, and omega 3 rich foods.

🏂 Go Outside. Exercise inside is fantastic, but don’t let that keep you from a brisk walk outside.

🤗 Keep Social. Social interaction is important for your mood. Make sure to keep your social engagements even if you don’t feel like leaving your house. You will be glad you did.
