"Environmental Impact on Fertility and Preconcepti "Environmental Impact on Fertility and Preconception Health," 1 hour CE talk, April 2019, Wisconsin Association of Naturopathic Physicians (WANP) Annual Conference.

“Based on declining fertility rates in the US and increase in preterm birth, what can we be doing better? And how does the environment play a role in preconception and maternal-fetal health?” A couple of specific examples (and solutions) are:

Bisphenol A: disrupts brain - ovary communication which can disrupt hormone production and ovulation- avoid plastics!

Pesticides and glyphosate: can disturb ovulation patterns and the gut microbiome - eat organic!

When it comes to minimizing the impact of environmental exposures, first is avoidance, next support elimination of toxins with regular detoxification (sweat, stool, urine, breath work) and with dietary and lifestyle habits.

This can be a very complex topic and hard to summarize everything you could be doing in this post. Inside of the Fertility Formula, I have an entire lesson and action plan worksheet to help you understand and minimize your environmental risk.

One of my favorite ways to beat the cold weather i One of my favorite ways to beat the cold weather is with my infrared sauna. 🌞 I like to do a light activity before (yoga or walk), then enjoy uninterrupted relaxation in the infrared sauna.

An infrared sauna uses infrared heaters to raise the body temperature gently, instead of the extreme heat from a traditional sauna. An infrared session feels more like lying in the sun and feeling the heat radiate to the core of your body. The trick with IR sauna is to warm up with the sauna vs jumping in with it already at max temperature. I usually get in at about 120 degrees and work up to 145 or so over 30-40 minutes.

Have you tried IR sauna? How did it work for you?
